The Seven People You Meet in Sixth Grade

On March 13th and 14th, 6th graders welcomed guest speaker Yo El Lee to their classroom.

Mr. Lee has multiple years of experience in international law in both the U.S. and Korea, as well as various countries throughout Europe and Africa. He was kind enough to join us and share tales of his involvement with a diverse selection of cases, ranging from multi-corporate mergers to pro-bono work in his native country of Tanzania.

Preparing for this meeting, students generated a plethora of questions for their guests. They then engaged in a Q&A session with Mr. Lee, probing him about the different aspects of law, particularly law that crosses nations. With the answers, students then prepared a reflective statement about their experience and gained knowledge of this career field.

This appearance was a part of a 7-part series for this class, as part of a project titled, "The Seven People You Meet in Sixth Grade." Students will meet with assorted guests from different career fields to be exposed to a wide range of professions. This will culminate in an year-end project that will challenge these 6th graders to profoundly consider their future careers.
