Amazing Race 2024
The Amazing Race 2024 took place on Sunday, March 31st, 2024.
Peai teachers, friends, and loved ones participated in this grueling, but exciting race.
For the first annual race, we decided on making Suwon the location for all of our challenges.
Let’s take a look at the events in order!
Starting Point: Avenue de France, Suwon Gwanggyo @ 12:30pm
Team A: Penguins
Team B: Bears
Team C: Cats
Team D: Ducks
Contestants gathered at the central courtyard of Avenue de France for the start of the race. This was the location where teams were revealed and the first mission was assigned. Each team needed to gather 3 items: A lock, keychain doll, and a sharpie.
After gathering the items, each was given a mission packet outlining details of the Food Challenge. This challenge offered 3 options for food:
진미통닭
지동시장 순대곱창타운
보영만두
Team Ducks got off to a hot start, gathering all items within a span of 5 minutes, while the other teams, like Team Cats, were hilariously delayed.
Eventually, all teams were able to make their way to the food challenge. Here is what they ate and finished!

But wait a minute…
This isn’t 보영만두… They went to the competitor across the street!
(There is some bad history between these 2 places.)
After participants completed the food challenge, they were instructed to make their way to 행궁의상실 for some costume fun! Here are the shots we took!
A cup of tea for these distinguished young gentlemen. As organizers of the event, we decided to have some fun before the participants arrived.
As expected, Team Ducks were the first to arrive. They decided to sport the maroon suit look, and I must say, these guys are some handsome boys! Look at these rock stars~
Team Penguins go for the schoolgirl and western look!
And here is Team Cats with the southern aristocrat style. There is also a navy colonel for some reason…
Would anyone care for some tea? I’m not sure why that soldier is pointing a gun at the lovely southern belle. ^^
CAFE DISTRICT
After a round of photos, teams were given the next mission: Cafe District. This mission was divided into 3 mini missions:
행리단길
Poets and Farmers
벽화마을
Each of the locations had specific tasks to be completed. Here are some of the photos from the missions.
MISSION A: 행리단길
Participants were tasked with finding and completing the following: Get a group caricature, Find an MBTI machine, and take a sticker photo!
MISSION B: Poets and Farmers
At this local cafe, competitors needed to find a log book with a secret message that looks like this.
Team Ducks was the first to find the hidden message! But for some reason, the other teams had trouble finding the message, so compromises had to be made.
MISSION C: 벽화마을
Here is the mural village of Suwon. Contestants had to find a series of murals, attach their keychains to the Wall of Locks, and finally, record a Tik Tok Dance on the streets!
FINAL MISSION: THE AMAZING RACE
After all the cafe district missions were completed, racers were given a set of Master Clues. But this is where things get interesting.
At the beginning of the race, all teams were given a link to a form that looks like this:
After inputting the master clues, the final destination was revealed as follows:
These GPS coordinates lead racers to the Freilberg Observatory at Gwanggyo Lake Park. Now it is a dash to the finish!
Racers must make it to the top of the tower to finish!
We anticipated that teams would be neck and neck and would be trying to outrun each other to the finish line.
However, we realized something happened…
Both Team Ducks and Team Cats forgot about the Master Clues and went hiking up the wrong mountain to find the statue of 정조대앙. Oops!
They should have paid attention to details! With this recent development, it’s now up to Team Penguins and Team Bears to finish out the race!
And the winner is… Team Penguins! They are the first team to arrive!
In second place is Team Bears!
Team Cats comes in as the 3rd team!
And finally…
Team Ducks comes in at a distant fourth…
So, there you have it! Team Penguins is the champion of Amazing Race 2024! Congratulations!
It was certainly a fun and exciting day for all of us. But most importantly, this was a great opportunity for all of us to bond and gain new experiences. We hope that this can be a tradition at Peai from now on. Thanks to all the competitors and best of luck in the next Amazing Race!
